STORMZY has donated a whopping £9,000 to a lucky postgrad student from south London to study at The Harvard Graduate School of Education.
The grime rapper gifted fellow black Londoner Fiona Asiedu the amount online without fanfare after her crowdfunding initiative, #SW2Harvard, was brought to his attention on Twitter.
Now bright spark Fiona is overjoyed to have the £12,000 she needs to cover costs during a Masters in Human Development and Psychology at the prestigious uni.
Stormzy was alerted to Fiona’s crowdfunding quest when her friend tagged him on Twitter, asking him to retweet her appeal, which he did.
But soon a mysterious donation from Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Junior — Stormzy’s real name — was made on the site
But she had no idea the plea for help would reach grime superstar Stormzy ’s attention or go viral after he pledged a generous £9,000 to help Fiona reach her target.
Stormzy saw Fiona’s request when a friend of the student’s sent him a tweet asking if he’d be able to help with the fundraising – Stormzy replied by not only retweeting the appeal but also dipping into his own pocket.
